After Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir Eyes Pakistan Comeback for T20 World Cup

In the wake of Imad Wasim’s recent remarks about potentially returning to the Pakistan national team, another former cricketer has now expressed his desire to don the green jersey once again. Mohammad Amir, the left-arm pacer who retired from international cricket in 2020, has declared his availability for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Amir took to Twitter to convey his intentions, stating, “I still dream of playing for Pakistan! Life brings us to the points where at times we have to reconsider our decisions.”

The 30-year-old fast bowler revealed that he has held positive discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), where they made him feel valued and needed. “There have been a few positive discussions between myself and the PCB where they respectfully made me feel that I was needed and can still play for Pakistan,” Amir wrote.

After consulting with his family and well-wishers, Amir has decided to make himself available for selection. “I declare that I am available to be considered for the upcoming T20 World Cup. I want to do this for my country as it comes before my personal decisions,” he stated.

Amir’s announcement comes shortly after Imad Wasim, the all-rounder who stepped away from international cricket last year, expressed his willingness to return to the national side if required.

The potential comebacks of Amir and Wasim have sparked excitement among Pakistani cricket fans, who are eager to see their team perform well in the T20 World Cup later this year.

Amir, who has represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is, reiterated his passion for representing his country. “Donning the green jersey and serving my country has always been, and will continue to be, my greatest aspiration,” he wrote.

It remains to be seen how the PCB will respond to the availability of these experienced campaigners. Their inclusion could potentially strengthen Pakistan’s squad for the prestigious T20 World Cup.
